Internship Contemporary Art Gallery (40%)

28.02.2019 Galerie Gregor Staiger is currently offering a part-time internship (40%) for a detail-oriented undergraduate, graduate student or beginning professional interested in working with contemporary art, providing an insight into practical work experience within an internationally active gallery.

Duration is a minimum period of 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
Days/hours are flexible and include Saturdays. The internship is compensated with a small stipend.

We are looking for someone who will assist the small team primarily in the archives and inventory, with a variety of other tasks as well as supporting all daily gallery operations.
Front Desk Tasks:
- Invigilate the gallery independently (greeting clients, visitors and field incoming phone calls)
- Maintaining the book display, front desk area, and keeping work lists stocked
- Be informed about the current show and able to speak about it
- Assist with office management, such as mail, stock office materials etc.

Maintaining the Website and Gallery Archive:
- News (Reserach upcoming exhibitions/performances of the galleries artists)
- Updating the artist documentation (CVs and portfolios)
- Request archival materials (high-res images, press releases, interviews etc.) in conjunction with the
gallery artists’ exhibitions in museums and other galleries

Assist in the preparation for art fairs, openings and upcoming exhibitions:
- prepare physical artist files (including CVs, documentation and press material)
- order drinks, catering and set up for the opening
- update contacts and mailing list for the newsletter
- assist in install and de-install of the exhibition
- assist in maintaing the gallery’s database and inventory re: storage and location of the artworks

We are looking for someone with
- attention to detail, well-organized and able to work independently
- strong interest in the gallery’s programme
- interest in photography and experience with digital imaging software (Lightroom, InDesign) as well as art-handling/installation a plus
- a positive can do & hands on attitude

About the Gallery
Galerie Gregor Staiger was founded in 2010 with the aim of exhibiting and promoting the work of contemporary Swiss and international artists as well as hosting experimental shows and performances. The gallery presents five to six exhibitions per year, participates in a number of international art fairs and collaborative projects. The gallery is a founding member of the non-profit Paris Internationale.
