Ritterhaus

The Ritterhaus (House of Knights) in Bubikon is considered the best preserved former commandery of the Order of St. John in Europe.e. Its history dates back to
the year 1192. The Ritterhaus has been owned by the Ritterhaus Society (“Ritterhausgesellschaft”) since 1936, the year of its foundation. The Society
managed to prevent this remarkable medieval monument from falling into disrepair and created a Museum relating the history of the Ritterhaus and the various orders of knights. Since 1959 the Ritterhaus has been designated a National Historic Monument. Today it is a wellknown meeting place and has attracted nationwide interest.

Die Fotografien Radis wohltätigen Organisation "Buy Food with Plastic"

More

In recent decades, feature films and television documentaries have increasingly painted a picture of the Middle Ages as a really dark period of time. The new special exhibition at the Ritterhaus Bubikon shows that this picture does not correspond to medieval reality. The exhibition focuses on the colourfulness of the Middle Ages, which can be seen, for example, in art, clothing and written sources.
