The Freuler Palace was built between 1642 and 1648 for Colonel on the Guards Kaspar Freuler. The manor house is one of the most beautiful 17th century secular buildings in Switzerland. Historical rooms: outstanding stuccowork, panelled rooms with rich inlay work. Cylindrical tiled stove, introductory audiovisual show. History of the canton: prehistoric findings, state antiquities and banners. Cabinett glass pane, sacred art, local portraits and furnishings. Graphics collection with town views. Textile printing in Glarus: audiovisual presentation, documents on cotton printing (18th to 20th century) with drafts, sample books, printed cloths and hand printing blocks. In the former stables: model of the Beresina battle 1812, mercenary services, uniforms and weapons of the Glaronese infantry batallions. Ski sport in Glarus, from the beginnings to Olympia-medalist Vreni Schneider. Temporary exhibitions. Interactive stations for children. Audio guide - also for visually impaired.
