Mineraliensammlung im DIORAMA

A remarkable little museum!

Discover two exhibitions under one roof: The DIORAMA houses the private mineral collection of the Dr. Adelrich Eberle from Einsiedeln: 1,200 magnificent exhibits from all over the world, from Alpine quartz to magnificent crystals from South America and China. A special feature is our fluorescence cabinet: In ultraviolet light some minerals, which are rather inconspicuous in daylight, reveal a fantastic, undreamt-of splendour of colour.

Our famous nativity scene in the same house enchants with over 450 hand-carved figures on 80 m2. The magnificent figures are almost 100 years old.

Small special shows on “Special Objects”. Special offers for groups and schools. Museum shop and small visitor café.

SALT

-
How does the salt get into the sea?

Literally all salt comes from the sea. The expensive Himalayan salt and the ordinary road salt, which is mined in the Alps, in Germany or in the Swiss saltworks of Rheinfelden and Bex.

The special show SALT in the DIORAMA Einsiedeln shows drill cores, great salt crystals in many colours, try-it-yourself stations, information on mining, salt species and chemistry. And how salt actually gets into the sea!
