KMD - Kunsthalle Marcel Duchamp | The Forestay Museum of Art
The Kunsthalle Marcel Duchamp Association was founded in 2009 on the occasion of an international event dedicated to Marcel Duchamp and the waterfall of Forestay photographed by the artist in 1946 as the starting point for his last masterpiece "Étant Donnés: 1 ° la chute d'eau, 2 ° le gaz d'éclairage..." The KMD, "the smallest museum in the world", is located in Cully, on the banks of Lake Geneva, not far from the Forestay waterfall. The museum presents about five exhibitions a year, featuring works by emerging and internationally renowned artists. KMD publishes books on artists, art theory and exhibition catalogs. The KMD is an art project of Caroline Bachmann and Stefan Banz. A first small museum was realized in 2010 by Mélanie Althaus, EPFL architect. The current exhibition space was realized in 2016 by Jonathan Banz, ETH architect.
