Festung Etzel Ost
The Etzel Ost fortress was built as part of the Réduit during the Second World War inside the Etzel. The army wanted to ensure that at least part of Switzerland could be held. The once secret fortress had the task of blocking access via the old pilgrimage route to Einsiedeln.
On a guided tour (duration 1 hour), the history of the Réduit in World War II is conveyed to the public. You will find out who should be stopped where and you can guess what the armies did at that time. Discover the fortress with the machine gun combat stands, the command wing, the accommodation wing and the various side rooms (radio niches, engine room, ammunition niche).
