Cartoonmuseum Basel

The Cartoonmuseum Basel is the only museum of its kinds devoted exclusively to satirical art – from the caricature to the comic. The Late Gothic building on its historical site also includes an unexpected new building by Herzog & de Meuron. Varying, attractively designed exhibitions on political and social themes show the considerable scope of the humorous drawing and the great diversity of artistic techniques. Equal attention is paid to both classical works, some from the museum’s own stocks, and contemporary works.

Das Cartoonmuseum Basel befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe des Grossbasler Rheinufers, genau in der Mitte zwischen Kunstmuseum und Museum für Gegenwartskunst. Zu Fuss: Ab Bahnhof SBB: 10–15 Minuten über die Elisabethenanlage zum Bankverein und ca. 5 Minuten in Richtung Kunstmuseum. ÖV: Ab Bahnhof SBB: Tram Nr. 2 Richtung Eglisee bis Haltestelle Kunstmuseum, dann ca. 100 m zu Fuss. Ab Badischer Bahnhof: Tram Nr. 2 Richtung Binningen bis Haltestelle Kunstmuseum, dann ca. 100 m zu Fuss
