Museum Ethics

The joint annual conference of the ICOM Switzerland – International Council of Museums and the Swiss Museums Association which took place at the Museum for Art and History Freiburg (Switzerland) on the 25th and 26th August 2011 was dedicated to ethical problems of particular significance for museums. Issues regarding the duty of a museum to take care when purchasing collection items, dealing with fragile sensitive collection and exhibition items and selecting collection items for disposal formed the main focus of the conference.
