Responsibilities include:
Front desk:
- invigilate the gallery independently (welcoming clients, visitors and field incoming phone calls)
- maintaining the book display, front desk area and keeping work lists stocked
- introduce visitors to the current exhibition and gallery program
- assist with office management, such as mail, filing, stock office materials, keeping the office area organised and clean
- assist in keeping the gallery space neat and tidy
- experience with Adobe CS, SketchUp and Office programs are a plus
Communication / gallery archive:
- maintain and update the gallery website
- update artist portfolios, CVs and artwork data base
- request and file archival materials (high-res images, press articles etc.) in conjunction with the gallery artists’ exhibitions in institutions and other galleries
Preparation for art fairs, exhibition openings and forthcoming shows:
- assist in preparing artist files (previews, portfolios, press clippings)
- research and source materials for art productions
- organise drinks, catering and set up for gallery openings
- update contact and mailing lists for newsletters
- assist in install and deinstall of exhibitions
- assist in maintaining the gallery database, inventory and physical art storage
Your profile:
- fluent in German and English
- ability to prioritise, attention to detail, hands-on mentality
- independent and responsible work ethic
- strong interest in the gallery program and represented artists
- interest in photography and experience with Lightroom and InDesign as well as art-handling skills are a plus
About the gallery:
Galerie Gregor Staiger was founded in 2010 with the aim of exhibiting and promoting the work of contemporary Swiss and international artists as well as hosting experimental shows and performances. The gallery with locations in Zurich and Milan presents five to six exhibitions per year, participates in international art fairs and collaborative projects. The gallery is a founding member of the non-for-profit platform Paris Internationale.
